Panettone is a type of sweet originally from Milan – Italy. It is usually prepared and enjoyed for Christmas and New Year in all Italy, southeastern France, Brazil, Peru, Germany, Malta and Switzerland. Panettone is now one of the symbol of Milan. In the early 20th century, two enterprising Milanese bakers began to produce panettone in large quantities in the rest of Italy
The general shape is a cupola shape, which extends from a cylindrical base and is usaually about 12-15 cm high for a panettone weighing 1 kg. It contains candied orange, citron and lemon zest, as well as dry raisins. It is served in slices, vertically cut, accompanied with sweet hot beverages or wine such as Moscato d’Asti that is sweet.
